Firefighters Recruit First Female Full-Timer

From a young age, Sarah Durant knew she wanted to be a firefighter.
Beginning at the age of 18, Durant fought forest fires near Kenora, in northern Ontario, for two seasons.
“When I was just a little girl, I knew I wanted to do it. It was just a matter of, could I do it?” Durant said.
“Once I went and fought forest fires is when I really came into it. I really enjoyed it and loved the physical aspect.”
